Leonardo Carpentieri
Partner,
International Arbitration
Dr. Leonardo Carpentieri co-heads the firm’s International Arbitration practice. He focuses on international commercial and investment treaty arbitration, with extensive experience in institutional and ad hoc arbitrations, seated in both common law and civil law jurisdictions. Leonardo’s practice focuses on the construction, infrastructure and energy sectors, with a particular focus on projects located in Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, and Africa.
Leonardo started his career as a French Avocat in Paris and moved to London to join the arbitration team at Baker Botts. He later joined Pinsent Masons to help develop the firm’s construction arbitration offering. Prior to joining Rosenblatt in December 2023 to set up the International Arbitration practice, Leonardo worked in the London office of Milan-based arbitration boutique LMS. Leonardo is also admitted to practice as a Solicitor in England & Wales.
Because of his civil law and common law background, Leonardo effectively assists clients facing disputes across jurisdictions of both systems. He has participated in arbitrations before the major arbitral institutions, including the ICC, the LCIA, UNCITRAL, ICSID, the Milan Chamber of Arbitration (CAM), and the PCA.
In addition to his disputes experience, Leonardo also assists contractors for project support, from procurement to completion. He also provides strategic advice on investment treaty planning in order to maximise legal protections available to foreign investors. Leonardo regularly publishes articles, lectures in leading universities, and speaks at conferences on commercial and investment treaty arbitration matters.
Leonardo is a Director of the Franco-British Lawyers Society for England and Wales, of which he is also the former President for England and Wales.
